SD2Vita: Proof positive it is faster than real Vita memory cards

This test will cost you, though...

Get Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd and every available DLC.

With a real 64 GB memory card, there is considerable lag scrolling through the song list. The lag is much more tolerable with a real 32 GB memory card, and I'd say the lag is eliminated completely with a real 16 GB memory card.

But having transferred everything to an SD2Vita (specifically a "version 5.0" model with this 512 GB Samsung micro SD card), scrolling through the complete song list is as smooth as ever.

I just wonder if the internal SD2Vita solution (PSVSD) is just as fast. That setup has the advantage of playing physical carts easier, at least.

Reminder:

If you're copying over from a real Vita memory card, you have two things to change from Folder Options > View.

  1. Under advanced settings: under "Hidden files and folders," enable "Show hidden files, folders, and drives
  2. Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

And when formatting the micro SD card, you still want to set the file system as exFAT and have no volume label, but for the really large cards capacities like the 512 GB card I'm using, you must set the allocation unit size to 64 kb.

These two points are commonly missed in blogs / video tutorials and it was always the comment sections that set us straight.
